My name is Stephanie Hancock. For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of visiting the animals and peoples of Africa. Not too long ago, my husband and I made this dream a reality, visiting many of the wonderful places of East Africa (you can read a description of our experience with Rafiki Africa's Parks & Gorillas Safari). After having walked amidst giraffes in Kenya, visited face-to-face with mountain gorillas in the Virunga mountains of Zaire, and experienced the power of thousands of wildebeests thundering across the Serengeti plains, we were completely hooked on this large and still mysterious continent. In fact, as I lay awake during the first night of our safari -- replaying the day's experiences in my mind -- I decided to bring some of my experiences to other people in the world by creating Kilimanjaro Adventure Travel in 1995.

Our goal is to make African travel more accessible and friendly to potential travelers worldwide. In the past, adventure travelers had to book African safaris through local high-cost tour operators, make overseas reservations via expensive telephone calls or innefficient mail systems, or wait until they arrived in Africa before making specific arrangements. Kilimanjaro Adventure Travel aims to change this paradigm, making a broad array of affordable African travel services available to you via the Internet for the first time ever.

A portion of all of our profits go directly to wildlife protection organizations, such as the Berggorilla & Regenwald Direkthilfe (BRD), Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund for the protection of mountain gorillas, and the Serengeti Research Institute.
